DB Schenker Rail
Business Segment region West
The West Business Segment comprises the companies DB Schenker Rail (UK) Ltd, Euro Cargo Rail, France and Transfesa in Spain.
DB Schenker Rail (UK) Ltd., amalgamated with its subsidiary Euro Cargo Rail, which is active in France and Spain, and the Spanish company Transfesa, operates rail transportation services in Western and Southwestern Europe, and this amalgamation forms DB Schenker Rail’s Region West Business Segment. Customers benefit from an integrated cross-border network. This is particularly interesting where large freight volumes need to be transported over long distances.
DB Schenker Rail (UK) Ltd. is not only the biggest British rail freight operator, but is also the largest freight customer of the Channel Tunnel, and it has made a considerable contribution to increasing the volume of freight transported by rail in Great Britain. The company has a workforce of more than 4,000 employees, and operates about 1,000 freight trains a day.
DB Schenker Rail has held a majority stake in the automotive logistics company Transfesa since 2008. The company has become a specialist in the transportation of brand new vehicles, components and assemblies.
