DB Schenker Rail UK named Business of the Year

DB Schenker Rail UK winning four awards at the annual Rail Freight Group Awards, held in Oxford on Tuesday 11 September 2012, including the judges nominated Business of the Year category.

Employee innovation and responsiveness to customer service and environmental improvement were recognised through the awards, as well as the introduction of a new European rail freight service from the UK to Poland.

DB Schenker Rail UK won the Environmental Innovation Award for the introduction of a wagon component recycling facility by a Member of Groundstaff, Andrew Hogan, at Thornaby depot.

In the Project of the Year category DB Schenker Rail UK received a runner up award for the successful introduction of its weekly rail freight service between the UK and Poland.

Adrian Hibbard, a Production Manager from Knottingley, won the Outstanding Individual Contribution Award for the development of innovative solutions for his customer, improving service delivery and haulage capacity in the process.

The Business of the Year Award, selected and presented by the judges of the Rail Freight Group Awards, was won DB Schenker Rail UK for its significant contribution to service development and business improvement in the last year.

Alain Thauvette, Chief Executive of DB Schenker Rail UK, said:  "These four awards outline the wide range of innovative solutions our employees deliver to ensure we enhance service delivery for our rail freight customers.  To be named Business of the Year by the judges of these awards is a major recognition of the significant contribution our employees have delivered in the last twelve months as they serve our customers."
