DB Schenker and the Austrian Ski Federation (ÖSV) kick off the 2019 World Ski Championships season with the summer training apparel presentation in Kufstein

344 ÖSV stars receive their summer apparel at DB Schenker in Kufstein • Longstanding logistics partner handles all operations

The World Ski Championships season once again kicked off with the traditional summer training apparel presentation for the stars from the Austrian Ski Federation (ÖSV). The venue for the presentation was the DB Schenker facility in Kufstein, where the entire Austrian Ski Federation squad got together for the first time to prepare for the new season. A total of 344 athletes from nine disciplines (Alpine Skiing, Ski Jumping, Nordic Combined, Cross-Country Skiing, Biathlon, Skicross, Snowboarding, Freestyle Skiing, and Disabled) received highly functional training apparel from Under Armour at the facility operated by the ÖSV’s longstanding logistics partner.

“For more than 11 years we’ve had the privilege of being able to support the ÖSV in all of its competitions and training camps around the world, as well as at traditional events like the summer training apparel presentation,” says Helmut Schweighofer, CEO of DB Schenker in Austria and South East Europe. “We’re very proud of this longstanding partnership because it shows that we’re able to meet the extensive requirements of high-performance athletes quickly and reliably – on any occasion and at any time of the year.”

Many member organizations of the ÖSV have been preparing for the coming World Ski Championships season for weeks now. However, the summer training apparel presentation is the first event that brings all ÖSV athletes together to get ready for the challenge ahead. The event therefore marks the official kickoff of preparations for the season. This year as well, the ÖSV management team led by the federation’s President, Prof. Peter Schröcksnadel, and Secretary General Dr. Klaus Leistner established perfect conditions for the athletes’ summer training program.

“The new outfits obviously make the athletes happy and also serve as a source of motivation for the upcoming months of intensive training,” says ÖSV Marketing Director Mario Reiter. “As we all know, successful winter athletes are made in the summer.” ÖSV Sports Director Hans Pum believes the right training equipment will be one of the keys to success in the coming year as well. “In sports, it never stops,” says Pum. “We had the Olympics earlier this year and now the next World Ski Championships are just around the corner. Naturally, a major highlight for the ÖSV will be the Nordic World Championships on ‘home snow’ in Seefeld. During our intense summer training especially, it’s important that our athletes have access to highly functional training apparel.”
