4 Dec 2017 DB Schenker and the ÖSV - a Successful Partnership Enters the Next Round Transporting 850 tons of skiing equipment to venues around the world • ÖSV stars have relied on DB Schenker’s know-how for 11 yearsLast year, DB Schenker and the Austrian Ski Federation (ÖSV) celebrated 10 years of successful partnership, and on this occasion they renewed their existing cooperation until 2020. This means that the stars of the ÖSV have been counting on the expertise and know-how of the integrated transport and logistics service provider for 11 years now.ÖSV President Prof. Peter Schröcksnadel had this to say regarding the renewal of this successful partnership: “The Austrian Ski Federation has had the good fortune of working with reliable partners over many years. It is for this reason that I am especially happy to be able to renew our successful cooperation with DB Schenker for a further five years.”“We are very proud of our collaboration with the ÖSV; it proves that we can meet the strict demands of a high-performance team quickly and reliably,” says a delighted Helmut Schweighofer, member of the DB Schenker Board for Austria and South East Europe, of the partnership.ÖSV Sports Director Hans Pum adds: “The reliable support that we get from DB Schenker enables our athletes to concentrate fully on training preparations and on the races.”The Ski World Cup 2017/2018 season: transporting 50 tons of skiing equipment around the worldSince 2005, DB Schenker has delivered about 850 metric tons of skiing equipment for the ÖSV to all of their races and training camps around the world; host countries like Chile, New Zealand, Argentina, Canada, Korea and Japan have been on the schedule. As early as summer 2017, DB Schenker provided the ÖSV team with equipment for their training camps in New Zealand and Chile. The experts of DB Schenker are already at the starting blocks for the upcoming Alpine Ski World Cup races and will be transporting a total volume of 50 metric tons of equipment to races this year, including those at Nakiska in Canada and at Copper Mountain and Vail/Beaver Creek in the USA. More than 2,000 individual packages containing items such as ski bags, slalom poles, workbenches and ergometers, as well as more than 1,500 pairs of skis, will be shipped for the ÖSV stars in the 2017/2018 season.Challenging logistics calls for the most precise schedulingDuring the World Cup season, the stars of the ÖSV follow a strict schedule - just like DB Schenker. The predefined race schedules pose a particular logistical challenge when it comes to making punctual deliveries, so they require the most precise planning. This process especially requires flexibility, since outside conditions can result in one or the other of the races being postponed or even canceled. Even if this happens, the international logistics services provider is able to draw on its global network, respond with appropriate speed and ensure smooth delivery to the venues. The DB Schenker branch in Kufstein is responsible for all operationsAfter all of the skiing stars’ gear makes its overseas trips, it is stored temporarily at the Kufstein logistics site so that the ÖSV service team, the division trainers and the athletes have the option of accessing their equipment at any time. In addition, the DB Schenker branch in Kufstein has been charged with the planning and central delivery and with handling this entire partnership with the ÖSV from the start. DB Schenker’s global network makes it possible to provide all services from one source and transport the ÖSV equipment quickly and, above all, securely to all of the races and training camps.
