DB Schenker Warehouse Truck parking

DB Schenker invests further in expansion of air cargo services

To meet the growing demand for air freight services from the Benelux, DB Schenker is investing in further expansion of its Schiphol branch at the Prologis Fokker Logistics park. The new 10,300 m2 building will be built next to the current warehouse and is expected to be operational in the first quarter of 2023. The total operational space will double to 20,600 m2.

“With a focus on Healthcare activities, the new premises will be equipped with specialized equipment and will be certified according to GDP regulations," says Paul Schreiber, Vice President Air Freight at Schenker Logistics BeNeLux. "These Good Distribution Practices standards are a requirement for being able and allowed to handle Healthcare products. The entire building is suitable for conditioned storage between 15-25°C and there is an integrated cold room for storing pharmaceutical and healthcare products between 2-8°C. This specialized warehouse enables us to meet the growing demand from customers in the Healthcare sector to handle and transport shipments in accordance with the applicable regulations.”

The facility will comply with all modern building standards and will be equipped with solar panels, among other things. With high sustainability criteria as its guiding framework, DB Schenker's ambition is to comply with the BREEAM Excellent guideline. Modern ULD (Unit Loading Device) equipment will be installed for the efficient handling of air freight consignments.

Innovation, sustainability and safety are the main priorities in DB Schenker's corporate strategy. In the Benelux, the logistics service provider is continuously investing in further growth and the development of sustainable products as well as in the modernisation and renovation of its sites at strategic locations.
