DB Schenker receives Rail Award Best Logistics Service Provider on Silk route

For the third year in a row DB Schenker was granted the AFLAS Award as Best Logistics Service Provider Rail at the Asian Freight, Logistics & Supply Chain (AFLAS) Awards 2018 ceremony in Shanghai.

By steadily enhancing its rail freight solutions between Europe and Asia in terms of costs, lead time and service options, DB Schenker gained a leading position in the Trans-Eurasian rail connection. The hat-trick of Rail Awards is complemented with past AFLAS Awards won for best logistics service provider in Sea Freight, Air Freight, and best road haulier.

Rien Gulden, Head of Multimodal Solutions at Schenker Logistics Benelux: “Since 2008 DB Schenker has been the first logistics service provider to connect China and Europe via rail. At first by dedicated rail shuttles, later the service portfolio was extended with westbound and eastbound FCL and LCL services, resulting in a full service package with end-to-end solutions for all industries.”

The DBSCHENKEReurasia service combines the efficient DB Schenker network with the daily China Train. With a transit time of 14 days China Train forms a sustainable and reliable alternative for the slower ocean freight solution and more expensive air freight option.

“Our customers can benefit from the advantage of having one single point of contact for the transportation of their full loads, groupage and part loads to several Chinese destinations,” says Rien Gulden. “We notice that many shippers acknowledge the benefits of faster lead times, allowing lower stock and a more flexible supply chain. The volumes we transport via our China Train grow by approximately 300% each year. As only forwarder with a rail background and shares in all Chinese intermodal rail terminals, DB Schenker has access to all lines offered. From one line in 2011, to sixteen regular lines today.”
