Innovation, sustainability and safety are key in DB Schenker's corporate strategy. In the Benelux the logistics service provider is investing in modernizing its sites and ensuring sustainable facilities. The building in Luxembourg will be constructed in accordance with security level TAPA-A and environmental standard BREEAM Very Good. There will be an infrastructure in place for the electric charging of cars, bicycles and transport equipment. Upon completion, the building will be ready for installation of solar panels.

“We are very proud to enlarge our presence in the Luxembourg market," says Axel Quadt, Managing Director Schenker Luxemburg GmbH. "In the current market there is a growing demand for temperature-controlled storage, such as Healthcare and Pharma. Our new facility is equipped to match the demands of a diversity of customers. This includes storage and handling of ambient cargo as well as an expansion of value added and land transport services. The deployment of two Unit Loading Device systems allows us to increase our loading and unloading capacity for air freight consignments considerably. DB Schenker in Luxembourg is future ready.”

DB Schenker has been active in Luxembourg as of 1989 and has shown solid growth with a range of reliable and high-quality services since then. After starting off as a central air freight hub, the activities have been successfully expanded to include ocean freight, land transport and logistics services. Working closely with the Luxembourg government and real estate partner WDP a new site was found, providing the opportunity to further expand logistics activities. The multipurpose warehouse has a surface area of approximately 7,000 m2, offering space for a total staff of 100 employees.
