Rotterdam Ahoy has announced the cooperation with worldwide logistics service provider DB Schenker as its official fairs and exhibitions freight forwarder. The five-year contract was signed today.
"The experience of DB Schenker as a service provider in fairs and exhibitions logistics – not only in the Netherlands but also globally – and their strategic view on business convinced us to start this cooperation," says Gert-Jan van den Nieuwenhoff, General Manager Business-to-Business at Rotterdam Ahoy. "The logistics landscape around Ahoy is rapidly changing due to the expansion of our accommodation which is currently taking place and will be completed by 2020. The mobility solutions offered by Schenker Logistics further optimize the logistics activities around Ahoy. We have confidence that Schenker Logistics as our strategic partner will proactively contribute and innovate."
Lars Pohlmann, Vice President Fairs & Exhibitions – Sport Events – Oil & Gas at Schenker Logistics BeNeLux: "We are delighted that Ahoy chose us as their partner. We share the ambitious plans and trust that we together can exceed the customers’ expectations. That is our added value as a partner in logistics. In addition, this cooperation means further strengthening our position as a fairs and exhibitions partner in the Benelux."

In the Benelux, DB Schenker belongs to the top 3 in logistics services. With approximately 4,000 employees, 28 strategically located logistics centres and offices, Schenker offers complete integrated services in the areas of transport on land, air freight, sea freight, fairs & events, contract logistics and supply chain management.
Rotterdam Ahoy will be extended with an international congress centre and concert hall this year. The congress centre has 35 rooms, including an auditorium with 2,750 seats. The auditorium is built in such a way that it can also serve as a concert hall for 7,000 people. Enlargement is integrated into the existing structure of Ahoy. By the end of 2020 the first events will be held in the new part. In addition to the congress centre, Ahoy also features an indoor arena and six exhibition and event halls. This combination of different functions under one roof is unique and makes Ahoy one of the most versatile events venues in the Netherlands.
