Contingency Adjustment Surcharge for Far-East and Indian Sub-Continent to USA & Canada – LCL update
Following the missile attacks in the Bab el-Mandab Strait, most of our Carrier Partners have informed us that their Vessels will avoid the Suez Canal and instead take the longer route via Southern Africa.
Ensuring the integrity of your supply chain remains our focus. We note the rapidly arising consequences from the current situation. The extended transit times remain vague. The knock-on effect of such a situation is that a huge bottleneck will arise on demand with limited space on Vessels, missing equipment and consequently, a spike in rates.
The consequences from the above-mentioned scenario are becoming apparent:
- Several additional blank sailings in the months to come
- Charter rates for the few spot available tonnage has risen drastically
To ensure a high-quality and reliable service we would like to inform you of the application of a Contingency Adjustment Surcharge all Imports from Far East and the Indian Subcontinent to North America, applicable from January 15th, 2024 until further notice. The rate situation from January 2024 onwards is expected to be dynamic with a deteriorating trend on available space. We are urgently
assessing the rate situation for all impacted Trade Lanes and will keep you updated.
