Update 1 – Hurricane Irma – Puerto Rico and Florida Keys

(Miami, FL 09/05 - 5pm) We would like to update our network partners and customers on the recent developments in Caribbean and USA.

Hurricane Irma, with the most powerful winds ever recorded of 185 mph for a storm in the Atlantic Ocean, is approaching the Caribbean from the east on a path that could take it toward Florida over the weekend. According the the National Hurricane Center, Hurricane Irma remains a dangerous Category 5 and poses an immediate threat to the small islands of the northern Leewards, including Antigua and Barbuda, as well as the British and U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.

As Hurricane Irma intensifies & preparations begin, DB Schenker reminds everyone to stay safe. DB Schenker is closely monitoring Hurricane Irma. Our contingency plans are in place and, as always, our priorities are the safety and well-being of our team members and minimizing the effects of potential storms on service.

We will update customers with Logistics support in the affected areas as we know more.

Current Closures:

San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU) office has closed operations today at 3pm in anticipation of the arrival of Hurricane Irma. The Governor of Puerto Rico declared a State-of-Emergency today in advance of the storm. The port of San Juan will be closed Wednesday.

Anticipated Closures:

Miami, FL (MIA)
Orlando, FL (MCO)

Logistics Best Practices During Adverse Weather Conditions

To help avoid delays, we encourage you to contact your recipients to verify whether their location is open or able to receive deliveries before and after the storm. DB Schenker will be prepared to provide service to the best of our ability in areas affected by the storm and as local conditions allow.
