History

1966

Establishment of DB Schenker in Hong Kong as an air freight forwarder.

1968

Opening of first office in Taiwan located in Taipei.

1972

Establishment of ocean freight and project services in Hong Kong.

1975

Launch of regular charter flights from Hong Kong to major European countries.

1979

DB Schenker becomes one of Hong Kong’s first freight forwarders to employ advanced computer systems to handle daily shipping operations and documents, and provides up-to-date cargo information to customers.

Establishment of fairs and exhibition services, and expansion into a multi-modal freight forwarding and logistics company entering Mainland China.

1981

Opening of branch office in Guangzhou - first DB Schenker office in Mainland China.

1982

Opening of branch office in Beijing.

1984

Establishment of own Travel Division called Schenker Travel.

1986

Opening of branch office in Shanghai.

1992

Opening of branch office in Dalian.

1993 

Opening of branch offices in Tianjin, Shijiazhuang, Hangzhou and Xiamen.

1994

Opening of branch offices in Macau, Qingdao, Nanjing and Ningbo.

1995

Reception of ISO 2000 certification for Air, Ocean, Fairs, Removals and Project Services in Hong Kong.

Implementation of PC and TCP/IP Local Area Network.

Opening of branch offices in Chengdu and Xian.

1996

Opening of branch office in Changchun.

1997

Forming partnership with Lufthansa German Airlines turning Schenker Travel into the exclusive Lufthansa City Center in Hong Kong.

1998 

Schenker Hong Kong launches internet-based customer information system (CIS).

Adoption of high availability strategy, using UNIX cluster and Service Guard Software to provide reliable IT services to customers.

Opening of branch offices in Shenzhen and Wuxi. 

1999 

Launch of corporate website to facilitate online shipment booking and cargo tracking enquiries, as well as provide up-to-date corporate information.

Opening of branch office in Fuzhou.

2001

Establishment of first logistics warehouses in Shanghai and Hong Kong.

Inauguration of state-of-the-art Warehouse Management System (WMS).

Deployment of Schenker e-business strategy for online price requests and cargo tracking.

Opening of branch office in Shunde.

2002

Opening of branch office in Dongguan.

2003

Establishment of the International Technology Cooperation Centre (BITCC) an A-Class license logistics joint venture in Beijing.

Reception of ISO 9001 certification for eight consecutive years.

Opening of branch office in Shenyang.

2004

Opening of branch offices in Shantou, Zhanjiang and Zhongshan.

Establishment of new multi-functional logistics centers in Futian, Shenzhen and Shanghai and new logistics Center in Hong Kong.

2005

Establishment of Schenker China Ltd.

Opening of new multi-functional logistics center at the airport in Beijing.

Opening of branch offices in Foshan and Zhuhai.

2006

Establishment of joint venture with StarTrans International, Hong Kong.

Opening of branch office in Chongqing.

Schenker China Ltd. becomes exclusive Freight Forwarding and Customs Clearance Supplier for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

2007        

Merging of Schenker and BAX Global in Hong Kong and Macau.

2008

Merging of DB Schenker and BAX Global in China..

Successful provision of logistics services to the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, Hong Kong and Qingdao.

Opening of branch offices in Changsha, Quanzhou, Nanchang, Pingxiang, Wuhan, Harbin, Langfang and Yantai.

2009

Opening of branch offices in Changzhou, Jiaxing, Kunshan, Nanning, Taicang, Wenzhou and Wuhan.

2010

Awarded “Airfreight Forwarder of the Year 2010” at the 2010 Supply Chain Asia Logistics Awards (SCALA).

Opening of branch offices in Heifei, Huizhou, Jinan, Lianyungang, Nantong, Qinhuangdao, Taiyuan, Zhaoqing and Zhengzhou.

2011

Opening of branch offices in Baoding, Hohhot, Jiangmen, Jinan, Shaoxing, Taizhou, Urumqi, Yiwu and Weihai.

Reception of ISO 14001 certification for offices in Shanghai.

Awarded TOP 100 China Logistics Enterprises Award.

Launch of block train service from China to Europe.

2012

Opening of offices in Kunming, Jiangyin, Yunfu, Mianyang and Huadu.

Reception of ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certifications for offices in Hong Kong.

Reception of ISO 9000 certification for warehouse in Shanghai.

Winner of Best Road Haulier - Asia and Green Service Provider at the 26th Asia Freight & Supply Chain Awards (AFSCA).

Opening of China's largest warehouse (47,000 m²) in Kunshan.

Opening of own Logistics Academy in Beijing.

2013

Establishment of first wine storage facility in Hong Kong.

Operation of first block train ride from Zhengzhou to Germany.

Opening of new Mega Hub in Yantian, Shenzhen.

Shipping of massive cargo via an AN 255 freighter, the world’s largest and exclusive cargo aircraft of its kind, from China to Europe.

2014

DB Schenker and Jinbei Automotive establish a joint venture (JV) for logistics services in Shenyang.

Launch of land transport service – Asia LANDbridge connecting China and South East Asia.

Reception of certification for China domestic air freight operations.

Winner of "Best Logistics Service Provider - Sea Freight" awarded by Asian Freight and Supply Chain Awards (AFSCA).

2015

Launch of social media streams on Facebook and WeChat.

DB Schenker awarded Outstanding Freight Forwarder by Dragon / Cathay Pacific Airlines.

DB Schenker handles record amount of 0.75 B2C orders (1.64 million units) during Single’s Day 11/11 shopping event for an American fashion customer in China.

2016

DB Schenker celebrates 50 years in Hong Kong.

Awarded Best Rail Freight Service Provider at the 2016 Asian Freight, Logistics and Supply China Awards.

Schenker Jinbei Logistics, the joint venture between DB Schenker and Jinbei Automotive, kicks-off construction work of the second largest distribution center in China, the Shenyang Logistics Center.

2017

First block train service from China to London, UK.

DB Schenker partners with Sichuan JuiYE in China for perishable goods supply chain.

Grand Opening of the Shenyang Logistics Center in Shenyang with a footprint of 42,000 m² warehouse area.

2018
Merger of three regions, North/Central China, South China/HK and Taiwan into one Greater China Region to leverage strengths and capabilities to better serve our customers. 

2019
Awarded Best Logistics Service Provider - Road at the Asian Freight, Logistics and Supply Chain (AFLAS) Awards.
