China Business Development Manager, Indonesia

General Description:
1.Representing and driving the market positioning of Schenker’s presence towards Chinese Multinational accounts in the Southeast Asia Cluster - the heart of action, where it matters.
2.Responsible for managing and developing Chinese Accounts with the focus on mid-/large-size Chinese Multinationals across all products – Air Freight, Ocean Freight, Land Transport and Contract Logistics. This position is pivotal to building the pipeline and growth of the account(s) as well as exploring opportunities in the development of current service offerings. The role requires significant interaction with management throughout the region, as well as build ties and relationship with our Chinese customers to foster sustainable growth.

Specific Accountabilities:
  • Responsible for identifying sales opportunities and analysing potential sales growth targets in the different routes associated with Southeast Asia
  • Understanding the opportunities, the account(s) presents and preparing annual planning for growth of business within the cluster / region
  • Growth of the account and delivery of financial metrics (revenue, volume, GP & DSO / AR where relevant) in line with agreed budget and development targets
  • Building up on existing sales opportunities and creating sales leads in the Southeast Asia cluster and beyond
  • Responsible for sales conversion targets from prospects via sales leads visits and identifying targeted accounts for exponential growth (value growth companies)
  • Being the main contact of Chinese MNCs in the Southeast Asia cluster country and expanding network and relationships across borders
  • Understanding where specific capabilities or solutions need to be developed in order to meet customer expectations and identifying those needs to local or cluster/ regional management
  • For identified value growth companies, to look at market planning, business development planning and ensuring the implementation of business opportunities, from initial opportunity creation to establishment of stable operation eventually growing the account significantly to be listed as a top account for the organization
  • Provide visibility in provision of forthcoming tenders and closely manage these tenders, where necessary in cooperation with the respective China team members
  • Maintain an overview of the portfolio as required and able to provide updates as required
  • Strategically partner with all pertinent internal country organizations, branches and divisions to ensure aligned business development, and consistent service and growth


  • Preferably > 5 years’ experience in the logistics industry or in a sales environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of international logistics operations across multiple modes.
  • The position may require travel - domestically and internationally
  • Understanding of global integrated logistics requirements and solutions, across all logistics modes preferred
  • Language skills preferred – fluency in English & Mandarin (written and spoken)
