DB Schenker delivered a strong performance over the first six months of this year

Revenues up, adjusted EBIT up: DB Schenker can look back on a successful first half of the year 2019.

This was the news from Alexander Doll, Member of the Management Board for Finance, Freight Transport and Logistics at Deutsche Bahn AG, at the recent 2019 Interim Results Press Call in Berlin. DB Schenker delivered a strong performance over the first six months of this year, maintaining the company’s track record from 2018.

    Revenues:
EUR 8.49 billion year on year, up by 2.3 percent

Adjusted earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT):
EUR 238 million, increased by as much as 10.2 percent

This positive development was reflected in the key performance indicators of most business units of DB Schenker.

    Contract logistics

The contract logistics unit generated EUR 1.36 billion, up by 7.2 percent year on year.

    Ocean Freight

Ocean freight managed a transport volume totaling 1.12 million TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units), up by 2.6 percent.

    Land transport

The number of shipments carried rose by 2.5 percent, to reach 53.9 million.

    Air Freight

Only in the airfreight division – in a difficult market environment – did a decline have to be contended with: the total tonnage of shipments under management decreased by 10.9 percent, to just under 580,000 tons.

As of DB Group, According to CEO Richard Lutz, DB Group as a whole boosted its adjusted revenues by 2.2 percent in the first half of 2019, to 22 billion euros. The decrease of some 22 percent was due primarily to investment in additional measures to improve quality and performance.
