DB Schenker launches "Rostock - Xi’an" rail transport solution

A high safety coefficient, favorable price, and time guarantee have always been the advantages of rail transportation compared to other cross-border transportation methods.

A high safety coefficient, favorable price, and time guarantee have always been the advantages of rail transportation compared to other cross-border transportation methods. However, due to congestion at some ports, untimeliness and inefficiency of transportation this year has brought new troubles to many rail freight companies.

This past June, DB Schenker received an order from a customer regarding a science and technology enterprise in Chongqing that needed to import an entire set of equipment and accessories from Köln, Germany for its new production line. In order to realize the construction of the customers' production line, the goods had to be prepared in early July and delivered before the end of July, then assembled in a factory in Chongqing. At the time, due to serious congestion at Malaszewicze Port, the original schedule was compressed, and the task would not be completed on time.

As one of the leading companies in global integrated logistics, DB Schenker launched the innovative "Xi’an - Rostock Export Package" rail transportation solution this past April, successfully avoiding crossing the heavily congested Malaszewicze Port. This past June, DB Schenker, in conjunction with its product, launched a return service with the same route. In the end, the impossible transport task was successfully delivered via the "Rostock - Xi’an" Eastbound Train. More than that, DB Schenker offered the entire course tracking and professional customs clearance services to the customer, the door-to-door journey only took 22 days.

The "Rostock - Xi’an" rail transport solution, which connects the two ends of the rail transport with a short barge by ocean, runs at least twice a week between China and Europe, without fear of delayed deliveries due to congestion at Malaszewicze Port. Taking an import from Hamburg to Xi'an as an example, the average arrival time between the two stations is only 14 days, while the average export time is even shorter, at 13 days.

Director of Land Transportation, DB Schenker Greater China Robert Wu said "Against the backdrop of the outbreak of COVID-19 and the shrinking world economy in 2020, the Belt and Road Initiative has offered Chinese enterprises new opportunities. More and more customers have seen the unique advantages of the China-Europe Railway Express, a new model of transportation.

As one of the largest comprehensive logistics service enterprises in the world and a subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn, we have been involved in all areas of the China-Europe Railway Express project since 2011. We have contributed to constructing freight train platforms, investing in China United International Rail Containers stations, and organizing the flow of goods both from East to West. In the future, we will continue to develop new custom routes, expand our services, and establish new standards for digital and visualized train routes. By relying on the largest land transportation network in Europe, we will continue to introduce cutting-edge solutions and deliver more convenient and economical transportation to the market."

The following is the "Rostock - Xi’an" rail transport solution provided by the DB Schenker service team. For more information, please contact your account manager or service specialist.

Starting in October, DB Schenker will continue to launch the following import rail lines as customers request it, to provide customers with higher quality services.
