DB Schenker, one of the global leading integrated logistics services providers, made a grand appearance in the 2023 China International Consumer Products Expo in Hainan from April 11–15. The company showcased a range of its logistics solutions for the consumer and retail sectors, demonstrating DB Schenker's positive momentum and outstanding ability to actively embrace new opportunities for the development of the consumer economy in the Hainan Free Trade Zone.
As China's first national-level exhibition with the focus on consumer products, China International Consumer Products Expo provides a good opportunity for global enterprises to enter the Chinese consumer market and improve the development of Hainan's regional economy. In recent years, with Hainan’s continuous growth of duty-free sales, many international brands have landed in the province. This has led to a growing demand for logistics and transportation in many retail industries such as high-end luxury, fast fashion, cosmetics, mother and baby care, and the FMCG sectors. With many years of expertise and practical experience in logistics services in the Greater China region, DB Schenker’s capabilities in tailor-made one-stop logistics solutions will meet the varied needs of customers in the Hainan Free Trade Zone as well as global brand clients, ensuring the efficient management of the logistics supply chain for customers.
As its key focus in its development works, the Hainan Free Trade Zone actively promotes green transformation of the development model and encourages the construction of sustainable industrial chains. In line with this objective, DB Schenker shares a similar goal of building a green logistics supply chain in China together with its partners, aiming for net zero carbon emissions by 2040. At the exhibition, the company showcased a range of low-carbon emission reduction initiatives including the adoption of sustainable fuels and new energy vehicles (NEVs) in logistics transportation, as well as the development of circular and reverse logistics services. Its exhibition booth – which featured its comprehensive and innovative logistics solutions for land, ocean, air, rail transportation, and contract logistics – garnered interests and recognition from visitors.
This exhibition marks more than just DB Schenker' first appearance at the Consumer Expo, but also a positive beginning to potentially new opportunities within the Hainan Free Trade Zone’s consumer market. In November 2022, DB Schenker's Hainan branch was officially established and inaugurated in Haikou. The addition of this new branch has significantly expanded DB Schenker’s ability to provide logistics solutions for the Hainan Free Trade Zone.
Mr. Tony Wu, SVP of Area South, Greater China, DB Schenker, said: "Through participating in the Hainan Consumer Expo, DB Schenker was able to demonstrate its own professional capabilities and sustainable development concepts. We also saw considerable opportunities from the rapid growth in the consumer economy in the Hainan Free Trade Zone, and throughout the whole country. We will take the Hainan Free Trade Zone as an important fulcrum to help more Chinese and foreign customers benefit from this opportunity and achieve business growth."
Vishal Sharma, CEO of DB Schenker Greater China, said: "The successful hosting of the Hainan Consumer Expo has allowed us to see the strong demand in China's consumer goods market. DB Schenker’s ambition is to act as a bridge with its own professional capabilities in integrated logistics to promote the development of global trade and work with customers to create more business opportunities and a better future."
