Haikou, China--On November 15, 2022, DB Schenker, a world leading integrated logistics service provider, inaugurated its new Hainan Branch on Haikou. The office opens a new chapter for DB Schenker’s expansion into the South China market, serving China (Hainan) Pilot Free Trade Zone.
In Hainan’s 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25), the province aims to develop a modern logistics system by 2025 which includes an international logistics facility system, a digital logistics service infrastructure, as well as an international marine and aviation logistics service network. Convinced that logistics should come first when the Free Trade Zone develops, DB Schenker takes the initiative to layout, and adds impetus to build China (Hainan) Pilot Free Trade Zone’s modern logistics system.
With the opening of its 56th office in Greater China, DB Schenker’s Hainan branch has become an important fulcrum for the company to geographically expand its market within the southern region of Greater China.
DB Schenker’s strengths in land, ocean, air transportation and contract logistics will provide high quality logistics services to duty free, luxury brands and local corporate customers in the Free Trade Zone. Additionally, DB Schenker Hainan will also use its advanced, complete infrastructure and superior digital service capabilities to quickly respond to the logistics needs of its customers in Greater China.
Mr. Tony Wu, SVP of Area South, Greater China, DB Schenker, said, “the establishment of DB Schenker Hainan enables us to take advantage of the rapid development of the Hainan Free Trade Zone to better meet the development needs of local logistics hubs and provide high-quality logistics solutions to local customers. Meanwhile, the establishment of the branch also allows us to make significant contributions to the development of the regional economy, as well as to improve the supporting logistics services’ capacity.”
Referring to this, Vishal Sharma, CEO of DB Schenker Greater China, said, “the establishment of Hainan Branch is a key step forward for DB Schenker's efforts in Greater China. In the future, DB Schenker will continue to meet the growing demands of domestic and international trade logistics with advanced and complete infrastructure and superior digital services based on the prominent role and advantageous position of Hainan Free Trade Zone in the new development pattern of “dual circulation” in China, providing stronger support for the business opportunities brought by the Belt and Road Initiative.”
