The Czech biathlonists started the next season and along with them, also a service truck. It is again set up by DB Schenker, which, as the official partner of the Czech Biathlon, also provides logistics and drivers. More precisely, a male driver and a female driver.
Jiří Smolík still cannot sit behind the steering wheel due to his health problems His experienced partner, Martin Žák remains in the drivers group and was replaced by Josef Novák on his way from Östersund. And Veronika Vébrová went to Hochfilzen, Austria at the beginning of December.
A 25-year-old driver of DB Schenker, did not hesitate for a second to drive the biathlon truck. “It has always been my dream to go to the north. It is a great experience and, at the same time, an opportunity that does not turn up for everyone. All the more I appreciated the fact that I got the offer,” says Vébrová.
He’s already had a strict test. Together with Martin Žák, she went to Sjusjøen, Norway on 8 November, where the Czech team was preparing for the season, and then to Östersund, Sweden, on November 23, the location of the first part of the World Cup. And what are the impressions of the young female driver? “It's different than travelling in the Czech Republic or Germany. We use ferries, the roads in the north are different and there is also a lot of snow. It’s certainly more difficult, but I like challenges. “
“Veronika is an experienced truck driver who regularly carries sensitive goods for us. We have chosen her because she is very reliable, communicative and friendly. We are sure that she will fit into the biathlon team very well,” says Tomáš Holomoucký, Managing Director of DB Schenker.
Žák himself will travel through the French town of Le Grand-Bornand and then on 23 or 24 December he will park the truck in Prague. There it will be checked and serviced before the start of the second trimester. Who gets into the truck after the New Year is still a question. “If there is a possibility and I will be needed, I will be happy to go,” assures Veronika Vébrová.
The truck of the company DB Schenker, the world leader in global logistics services, will complete the season with its team. It will also travel to Kontiolahti, Finland and Oslo, Norway. Thanks to this, the Czech servicemen will have top facilities for ski preparation at every stop of the World Cup. This season, the truck will travel more than 14,000 km across Europe.
