DB Schenker builds 7,000 m2 logistics center in Taulov, Denmark

In the recent years our growth has been so high that the company is now investing in a large terminal and office building directly at the E20 and E45 intersection in Taulov.

The new Cross Docking terminal will become a new international and central hub for our European and Scandinavian linehauls, multimodal solutions, packages and global sea and air freight activities. The new logistics center will be strategically included in the existing largest European freight network, which includes 430 DB Schenker terminals in 38 European countries.

“The establishment of the new logistics center must ensure that we can continue to handle the ever-increasing volumes that our networks generate and offer to our customers. But at the same time, it is possible to implement the new products in our pipeline, which are continuously being launched in our network. The construction is specially designed for our global set-up and network, with the aim of constant efficiency, development and optimization, so that we not only maintain the highest product and service quality, but at the same time can contribute to reducing undesirable environmental impacts," says Henrik Dam Larsen, CEO of DB Schenker in Denmark.

The construction

It is a major area that DB we have chosen in Taulov, Fredericia Municipality, more specifically in Kongens Kvarter. With an area of 89,150 m2, the area corresponds to approx. 12 soccer fields. When it is all done, the logistics center will employ more than 150 employees from the start.

An approximately 7,000 m2 terminal will be built, with 68 gates, and at the same time, storage booths and parking for 80 trucks, as well as parking for distribution cars, will be available. All to meet the latest stricter requirements and regulations in the market. The terminal will be built with the highest level of security (TAPA) in order to handle goods for all business areas. In addition, a new office building of approximately 2,800 m2 will be being built, with emphasis on ensuring that the employees get the best possible working environment.

“Our terminals are all in operation 24/7 in order to utilize all square meters most efficiently and optimally. This also means that we deliver the industry's highest measurable "on-time-in-full" product and service quality, and this requires our own process and design layout. Having a good “standard” product is not enough. We must provide differentiated services that are individually tailored to our customers in order to contribute to the competitiveness of the Danish business community - both nationally and internationally”, says Henrik Dam Larsen.

Geographic location is crucial

“We are really proud that DB Schenker has chosen Fredericia Municipality as the new center for their worldwide activities. Over the past many years, we have worked hard to develop DenmarkC into the country's most attractive business area with a special focus on logistics. It has been very successful. We are delighted that DB Schenker has chosen us and will thus contribute to the good development in our local area. And of course, I welcome the many new jobs the company brings to our municipality. I look forward to welcoming them and showing them what Fredericia has to offer,” says Mayor Jacob Bjerregaard

“In Taulov there is the absolute best imaginable infrastructure for the logistics industry in Denmark. In order to minimize the environmental impact on the highways, we have chosen to build directly on the E20 and E45 highways in Taulov, Fredericia Municipality. The municipality has shown great understanding of our needs and wishes, and I think we have a really nice project that will benefit both DB Schenker and Fredericia Municipality as a whole”, concludes Henrik Dam Larsen
