From challenge to success: Wella's Collaboration with DB Schenker
Before Wella began its collaboration with DB Schenker, they faced a number of challenges that threatened their growth. Their previous warehouse was built on a business model that was no longer relevant. With increased sales to retail- and ecommerce customers Wella needed a solution that could handle entire pallets and meet new delivery requirements.
Additionally, their CMS system was outdated, leading to increased delivery and packing costs. Christian Wilson, Sr. Supply Chain Director Northern Europe at Wella, explains:
– We were stuck in old solutions and wanted to improve and explore new opportunities, deliver better quality and price.
Experience and implementation
Since the collaboration with DB Schenker began, Wella has seen a dramatic improvement in their logistics processes. Despite challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic, DB Schenker has managed to address the issues and deliver high quality and safety.
– Now it’s going well, our scorecard is almost too green, says Christian Wilson.
DB Schenker has tailored a solution for Wella's specific needs, with an optimized picking solution, safe handling of dangerous goods, and an automated packing process that includes both a packing machine and a carton folder.
Results and benefits
The collaboration with DB Schenker has had a positive impact on Wella's customer satisfaction. The high quality and safety of the deliveries are appreciated by Wella's environmentally conscious customers. Anders Holmberg, Head of Business Development & Customer Management DB Schenker Nordics, emphasizes that each solution is customer-specific but also leverages the effect of economies of scale.
– We adapt the services we perform for Wella based on their needs, says Anders.
