Sephora Bag in Warehouse

A beautiful partnership

After opening its first stores in Sweden and Denmark in 2012, Sephora Scandinavia launched its webshop in these countries in 2017 – and got off to a furious start:

After just a few months, we realized that volumes were much higher than anticipated and we needed a more reliable solution for our consignments,” says Jenni Österlund, General Manager of Sephora Scandinavia.

That’s why the French beauty company’s subsidiary recently decided to partner with DB Schenker. Sephora built up its stocks at a warehouse the logistics provider runs right at the international airport of Gothenburg, Sweden.

DB Schenker’s 3PL solution for the new customer includes all order handling, picking and packaging. Every half hour the warehouse team receives the latest orders from the online shop, picks and packs the products and sends out the consignments on the same day before 2 pm.

Be it make-up, perfume or skin and hair care products: Sephora offers many small articles that are very similar. “One product may come in 20 versions. This means that quality assurance enjoys the highest priority in order handling,” says Felix Berglund, Business Development Manager at DB Schenker.

Stock-taking is another key challenge with this type of product. In this regard we support Sephora on an ongoing basis."

Next to warehousing, DB Schenker also provides the customer with transport solutions. “As we are an independent operator, we choose the carrier that best suits Sephora in terms of lead time, quality and cost. As of now, we actually are the ones that ship the goods”, adds Berglund.

DB Schenker is a very professional partner that we are able to rely on in order to reach our goal to become one of the leading online merchants for beauty products in the Scandinavian market,” says Jenni Österlund.
