Changes in the fuel shares of European land transports

We continue to simplify the structure of DB Schenker's land transportation invoices for fuel shares. Next up are European land transports, where we will switch to use a single fuel element on July 1, 2021. A single fuel element includes both fuel surcharge and excise duty. Until now, these shares have been invoiced as separate fuel elements. Previously, a similar change has been made for domestic groupage, part and full load shipments and parcel deliveries.

In practice, the change will take place by merging the existing general fuel surcharge of European Land Transport into the freight price and as from July 1, the share of excise duty will be the basis for the fuel surcharge. Excise duty will be removed as a separate part of the invoice. The change does not require any actions of the customer. The level of the fuel surcharge will be determined once a month as before. The fuel surcharge cannot be lowered to negative.

We are preparing for this change by removing the separate fuel surcharge for intermodal transports on June 7. From then on, general fuel surcharges for international transport will be used for intermodal transport as well.

Your contact person at DB Schenker will be happy to provide further information on the change in fuel shares.
