DB Schenker's value added services and surcharges for land transports in Finland have been updated. At the same time new services will be added to the parcel transports. The changes come into force on June 1, 2018.
The driving times of the heavy traffic or the use of certain types of transport equipment have been limited by several European metropolitan areas in order to reduce traffic jams and traffic emissions. Due to the complicated transport operations in these areas a metropolitan surcharge will be taken into use in international land transports for consignments to/from certain European metropolitan areas. The surcharge is consignment-specific and it is based on consignment's freight weight. The real-time list of these metropolitan areas is published in our land transport surcharges (pdf).
In international transports the pricing of long goods will be based on country groups instead of country-specific pricing that was used earlier. Also length classification will be simplified. The surcharges for long goods listed by country group and consignment length can be found in our price list Value added services (pdf).
In transports between the Åland Islands and Mainland Finland a clarification surcharge is charged if we do not receive information that the Finnish Customs require for the transports crossing EU tax border to Åland. The required information includes both the consignor's and the consignee´s Business ID and the consignee's VAT REG number, if the consignee is VAT liable. We charge 64 euros for the clarification of this information.
For the parcel transports the range of services will be supplemented during the summer and during the end of the year. At this first stage our customers can order delivery via staircase or indoors.
In additions the general conditions of Schenker Oy will be updated to meet demands which are, among others, in accordance with the EU's general data protection regulation (GDPR) and some other changes.
