UK Exporting and Importing Post-Brexit

Customs declarations for exports and imports to and from Great Britain are now a mandatory requirement. On this page we will guide you through all the information that you need to provide. This information is crucial to ensure that your shipments are not delayed or queried.

Please note that the following goods cannot be transported to the UK on DB Schenker's standard system groupage freight solutions. For controlled goods being transported on FTL and LTL please contact your local branch.

  • Excise goods – hydrocarbons, fuels, alcohol and tobacco
  • Controlled drugs and precursors, toxic chemicals
  • Endangered species (CITES licensable goods)
  • Fishery products
  • Fertilisers
  • High risk plant and plant products
  • Explosives, firearms, fireworks, military licensable goods, mines, offensive weapons and torture equipment
  • Nuclear materials
  • Ozone depleting substances
  • Animal & Plant based Products

To trade between the EU and the UK you will need an Economic Operators Registration and Identification number. Find more information here.

As an exporter you need to ensure you comply with any special permits, licenses or checks that might be required for your goods. As an importer you need to confirm the commodity code so that the appropriate tariffs are paid. It is your responsibility as the exporter and/or importer of record to provide the commodity code to your customs agent.

You can find the codes in the EU TARIC or UK TARIFF.
