DB Schenker invests in modern land transport hub in Tilburg

The DB Schenker land transport branch in Tilburg at industrial area Katsbogten on the highway A58 will be thoroughly renovated in 2021. As international hub the land transport terminal located at Emma Goldmanweg gets a complete make-over resulting in an efficient and more spacious cross-docking operation.

“DB Schenker in the BeNeLux continues to invest in the future,” says Pierre van Diesen, Head of Land Transport BeNeLux. “The land transport branch in Tilburg, one of the logistics hotspots in the Netherlands, is a strategic location within our European network. The short distance to the A58 motorway is ideal and contributes to limiting CO2 emissions. This was the decisive factor for us to stay at this location. To be able to grow, compete and continue to provide a good service, we are investing in the sustainability and renovation of the existing building.”

DB Schenker is focused on investing in sustainable facilities and continuously improving customer service. Sustainability is a driving force in our business operations, such as adapting existing facilities on existing industrial sites to be future-proof. This has a positive effect on the employees, who are offered a future-proof, professional and safe working environment.

The renovation is expected to start mid-2021 and will take about a year to complete. The warehouse will be fully adapted to cross-dock activities for pallet distribution. Implementing an embedded towline, the internal transport of pallets will be automized, ensuring efficiency and safety. The building will be equipped with energy-efficient LED lighting and maximum use will be made of solar panels. The new site infrastructure will be adapted to the growth in traffic movements, so that safety, security and efficiency will also be guaranteed in the future. A total of 350 employees are employed at the site.

The DB Schenker land transport terminals in the BeNeLux are located in Tilburg, Ede, Oldenzaal, Eupen, Mechelen and Zwevegem offering daily departures within the European network.
