In Port Elizabeth, a team of Schenker volunteers converted an old garage into a comfortable space where orphaned children could do their homework. Previously the children shared one dining room table where they sat doing their homework after meals. Now the new room offers more space for the kids, who can have their own desk and access to computers. Research for school projects is now possible.
The Schenker team and their partners cleaned out the garage, painted walls and ceilings, laid floors, installed lights and many handled many other things to convert the garage to a study room with a motivational atmosphere. With some external partners, especially for IT solutions, five computers, including a server have been set up, internet lines installed, so that the children have access to “THE WORLD” for their projects and schoolwork.
