DB Schenker owns a state-of-the-art lab to develop and test the technologies which will shape tomorrow's logistics.
DB Schenker embraces the future successfully to cultivate state-of-the-art research and development activities and shape the way our world connects – as our company founder Gottfried did in the 19th century, when he came up with the groundbreaking innovation of consolidating transportation events as collective rail consignments.
To link the expertise from different industries and academic research, we established an important strategic cooperation with the renowned German research institute Fraunhofer IML in Dortmund, Germany in 2015. The DB Schenker Enterprise Lab for Logistics and Digitization is characterized by close collaboration and interaction of Fraunhofer researchers with DB Schenker and offers the best location and resources to innovate, develop, and test new solutions which will shape the logistics world of tomorrow.
This way, we rapidly gain practical insights into technological maturity, applicability, and implementation readiness.
The aim of our cooperation is to develop the next generation of logistics products, services, and business models. The Fraunhofer Institute and DB Schenker embrace the future together by considering current and upcoming trends in technology and society in their research.
