Who we are and what we do
At Schenker we advance businesses and lives by shaping the way our world connects. For 150 years we’ve been doing this, successfully. Maybe that is one of the reasons why we are present in 140 countries, with roughly 75.000 employees distributed on 2300 sites. In addition to this, we are currently joining forces with DSV and when combining our companies we will double in both size and market-reach, thus opening up even greater opportunities. As an employee in this winning team the possibilities are endless.
The Schenker business in Cluster Nordics (Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland and Iceland) is a dominant player in the respective market. Only in Sweden we have approximately 90.000 land based domestic shipments, per day, seven days a week, 365 days per year. This alone makes us a market leader. We constitute a complete logistics partner for our customers, and we have an extremely wide business offering ranging from goods- and parcel transportation to complete logistics operations. All of this supported by our Air-, Sea- and Road based services.
To get these complex operations to work, efficient and reliable IT solutions are of essence. Without this, everything stops, literally. Robotics solutions in our warehouses use AI based applications to run and optimize the management of goods in our warehouses. Our applications on the truck drivers’ hand device provide safe and reliable tracking of goods, just to mention two examples. Thus, it is indeed true to say that our IT solutions act as an enabler to our business. In Gothenburg alone we are roughly 100 individuals dedicated to developing and operating our IT echo system.
Our Journey
Within IT&D Nordics, we are on a journey to not only become a learning organization but also to integrate with DSV while optimizing and future proofing our landscape. We continuously improve our solutions and way of working. Focused agile teams and upcoming AI based applications just being two examples, not to mention the ongoing cloudification and our quest towards a more micro services-based architecture. In addition, together with our business units, we are expanding the areas where IT solutions provide value and support. By joining us you can play a crucial part in this journey. We have come a bit, but we are also humble enough to realize that we are far from done.
