Nov 17, 2020 DB Schenker builds state-of-the-art terminal in the south-east of Poland Investment of more than €10 million • 6,000 square-meter area • Highest safety and environmental standardsDB Schenker is investing in a modern land transport terminal that will be built on the premises of the Rzeszow-Dworzysko Science and Technology Park. The new terminal, which will open in the first quarter of 2021, will take over the operations of the Rzeszow branch. The investment that has been made for the benefit of clients from Podkarpacie will result in nearly 6,000 m² of space for a modern terminal, offices, and common and staff rooms.“Our customers keep raising the bar for us, and we do everything we can to be their logistics provider of choice,” says Piotr Zborowski, CEO North & East Europe at DB Schenker. “This year we are going to open a new terminal for customers from the Lublin region, and we will also start construction of a modern and environmentally friendly facility in the Podkarpacie region. In total, we are investing about €20 million in new land terminals within a timeframe of less than a year.”DB Schenker manages a network of 430 freight terminals across Europe. The new facility near Rzeszow, is larger than the previous one and has good connections to a nearby highway. Among many other inherent benefits, the new facility will make operations more effective and meet the highest standards of human and cargo safety. The construction project also follows DB Schenker’s approach for protecting the environment. For example, the company consistently locates its terminals away from residential areas in order to avoid noise and pollution on residential streets. The terminal in Podkarpacie will also meet the highest standards in terms of energy savings, CO2-emission reductions, and efficient water and heat management. In addition, all activities meet the requirements of the BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) certification system.“This is the sixth DB Schenker land terminal in Poland to undergo BREEAM certification as part of our environmental policy,” says Szymon Bielas, CFO North & East Europe at DB Schenker. “This is important, as an eco-friendly approach to building and managing industrial facilities can bring measurable economic and environmental benefits.” The terminal for DB Schenker branch in Rzeszów is erected by Panattoni which cooperated with the operator also during other projects.“The facility of DB Schenker in Rzeszów is another investment entrusted to Panattoni. Similarly to the previous ones, it is constructed based on the highest standards of cutting-edge and eco-friendly construction according to the sustainable development strategy of both companies. Thanks to our experience and having erected more than 2 million square meters according to the standards of sustainable and green construction, Panattoni could partner with DB Schenker again, introducing its know-how and a team of experienced specialists to the project. Thanks to it, the project will be completed efficiently, punctually, within the agreed budget and in line with the highest standards,” says Robert Dobrzycki, CEO of Panattoni.
