Global network. Regional expertise. And a client-driven spirit
Managing the logistics for breakbulk cargo requires precise strategy and expertise. Its operations involve unique challenges such as strict adherence to health and safety requirements, cargo transportation via multiple destination connections, and time management during loading/offloading cargo. Owing to its global know-how, regional expertise, and a client-driven spirit, DB Schenker in the Middle East region is an expert in breakbulk solutions. Here is an account of one of the latest successes.
The DB Schenker offices in Oman and Saudi Arabia had to manage the logistics of 4000 metric tons of steel from Sohar to Dammam and delivery at the customer's site in Riyadh. Due to the volume of cargo, vessel chartering was required. To avoid demurrages and port storage charges, the local DB Schenker experts had to have a thorough plan. Moreover, the client required a service provider who was equipped to clear the cargo under the industrial exemption and provide a certified cargo damage report.
The teams in Saudi Arabia and Oman leveraged DB Schenker's global position, its financial stability, and the existing chartering brokerage network to provide an appropriate solution to the customer. Overall, the duo adopted a project management approach and offered services such as marine surveillance, cargo segregation for multiple consignees, timely clearance, an arrangement of 100+ trucks, and a surveyor from TÜV Rheinland to meet client's requirements.
