On the way to becoming the quality champions

In June 2022, after 14 months of intensive preparations, the IT Quality Assurance team at DB Schenker officially kicked off the QA Transformation, a complex development program for all our testers around the world. Do you want to work for a company that truly cares about your development path? Get to know what we have planned for our IT quality experts for the upcoming months.

The structured and comprehensive training program

The goal of QA Transformation is to provide our 160 IT quality experts with a structured development path and help them to become highly professionalized agile contributors. We concentrate on delivering the knowledge within four defined areas:

  • security testing,
  • agile testing,
  • test automation,
  • testing competencies.

Our testers can choose one or more learning paths and develop in a preferred direction. We use various forms of knowledge sharing, like lectures, workshops, self-learning in our e-learning system, and materials like videos and presentations. The trainings are adjusted to the participants' experience level so they can choose if they want to begin with the basic course on a given topic or choose the advanced training if they have some experience already. Another great opportunity is a temporary project assignment, which allows colleagues to learn on the job in a real project with the support of experienced team members.

Experienced internal trainers ensure the highest quality

The whole learning program was developed internally, using the knowledge and experience of our best-in-class experts. More than 35 people from Germany, China, India, and Poland worked for almost one and a half years to prepare the whole program and learning materials. The trainings and workshops are delivered to the global QA team all over the world by our experienced internal instructors, mainly in a remote mode. Although it creates a lot of challenges connected for example with cultural differences or specifics of providing training in an online way, the feedback from participants is more than positive.

Check the feedback from our colleagues by yourself

Maciej Sobolewski, Test Analyst, TSC Quality team in Warsaw: During the first workshop concerning security training, I learned a lot. It's great that it was based on real, practical cases and participants had the opportunity to make some exercises using specially prepared demo websites. It was interactive and for sure much more engaging than the simple PowerPoint lecture. I’m waiting for the shadowing opportunities, that are planned within the program. That is the best way to obtain knowledge in my opinion – to learn on the job under the supervision of an experienced colleague, an expert in the field.

Shikha Gupta, Sr Test Analyst, TSC Quality team in New Delhi: I have enrolled and attended a couple of trainings concerning Robot Framework and security testing already. I really liked the training and the way it is planned. Its content coverage is appropriate and hands-on trainings are interactive and with a lot of discussions in which trainer and participants can share their ideas as well. Trainings are good to learn new skills and its sufficient to start working on a project and with the help of this knowledge, we can do our further investigations.
