Jochen Thewes, born 1971, is Chairman of the Board of Management of Schenker AG since September 1, 2015. Jochen, whose roots are in the German city of Rheda-Wiedenbrück, is an internationally recognized supply chain and logistics expert, bringing more than 20 years of senior management expertise and experience in both regional and global positions. Over the past years, he has made significant contributions to DB Schenker, most notably since 2011 in his role as Chief Executive Officer in Singapore in the fast-paced and dynamic Asia/Pacific Region, where he was responsible for 13,000 employees spread across 200 locations in 20 countries. Prior to that, he was Senior Vice President Global Ocean Freight based in the Head Office in Essen/Germany.
Before joining DB Schenker, Jochen held various senior management positions within the global logistics group Kuehne + Nagel. He spent more than twelve years in different functions in Asia and Latin America such as President of the company in Brazil, General Manager for Central China in Shanghai and Chief Representative in Vietnam. He also operated in Hong Kong and New York.
Christian Drenthen is Member of the Management Board for Global Land Transport at Schenker AG, headquartered in Essen, since January 1, 2019. Christian, originally from the Netherlands, has a degree in logistics and has been with Schenker AG since 2015. Before this, he worked for logistics companies such as FedEx and Unilever.
Thorsten Meincke is Member of the Management Board for Global Air and Ocean Freight at Schenker AG, headquartered in Essen, since June 1, 2019. He previously served as the Head of Global Ocean Freight at Kuehne + Nagel and worked in other positions at Kuehne + Nagel, as well as M&M Militzer & Muench, a Swiss-based logistics company, and Arthur Andersen, a US-based consulting company. Thorsten, who was born and raised in Hamburg, holds a master's degree in Macroeconomics from the University of his hometown.
Hessel Verhage is a Member of the Management Board for Contract Logistics at Schenker AG, headquartered in Essen, since November 1, 2022. Hessel, originally from the Netherlands, started his career in the logistics business in 1994 as a forklift driver at a Container Freight Station. Most recently he served as Chief Transformation officer for the organization and will continue to drive this function, prior he was CEO of Region Americas for DB Schenker. Preceding joining DB Schenker, he served as CEO of STG Holdings, Global Co-President at the logistics company UTi and was, among others, CEO for Global Link Logistics, a global freight forwarder.
Christa Koenen is Member of the Board of Management for Information Technology and Digitalization (CIO/CDO) since September 1, 2021. Christa is an experienced executive with a broad background in various companies and different units of the DB Group. She joined Deutsche Bahn in 2004, holding positions in the areas of Strategic and Business Development, Services, and Controlling. In 2011, Christa took over as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of DB Kommunikationstechnik GmbH. From 2014, she served first as CFO and subsequently as Chairwoman of the Management Board of DB Systel. In addition, she was appointed CIO of the DB Group in 2018. Christa holds a degree in Economics and a Master of Business Administration.
Katharina Rath is Member of the Management Board for People & Organization at Schenker AG, headquartered in Essen, since December 1, 2020. Katharina is an internationally experienced expert in various fields of Human Resources. She earned a degree in Psychology (Diploma) from the University of Regensburg and previously held several positions at Continental Automotive Technologies, most recently as Senior Vice President Human Relations, Automotive Technologies and Holistic Engineering & Technologies as well as Member of the Automotive Board.
