DB SCHENKER Pinghu Logistics Center Project Awarded LEED Leadership in Green Energy and Environmental Design Gold Certification
DB SCHENKER Pinghu Logistics Center has been awarded LEED Gold certification for its multiple designs and initiatives aimed at lowering carbon emissions and promoting sustainable development of the building and the environment.
In the 2023 LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rating conducted by the USGBC (U.S. Green Building Council), the DB SCHENKER Pinghu Logistics Center has been awarded LEED Gold certification for its multiple designs and initiatives aimed at lowering carbon emissions and promoting sustainable development of the building and the environment. This certification demonstrates DB SCHENKER's proactive approach to integrating sustainability concepts into business development and commercial infrastructure.
Located in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province, the DB SCHENKER Pinghu Logistics Center (hereinafter referred to as the "Pinghu Logistics Center") has a LEED-certified project area of more than 54,000 square meters. Through a series of comprehensive designs and initiatives, the Pinghu Logistics Center not only fully implements advanced concepts of low carbon, environmental protection, and green practices in all aspects of project operation and building maintenance but also effectively safeguards the health and safety of employees within the project facilities.
The Pinghu Logistics Center has a variety of energy-saving measures, such as using full LED lighting equipment for interval lighting and implementing sound-sensitive lighting for stairwells to effectively reduce energy consumption. Energy audits reflectthat, compared to buildings of the same type in the LEED database, the Pinghu Logistics Center's energy consumption level is lower than that of similar buildings.
Secondly, to enhance the building's water efficiency, the Pinghu Logistics Center not only employs devices and fittings with lower water flow rates to effectively reduce water consumption but also implements sub-metering measures to track, record, and monitor the project's water usage. This approach is conducive to continuous optimization of water management through data analysis, ensuring that water resources are fully utilized.
Additionally, the Pinghu Logistics Center has effectively enhanced indoor air quality by implementing a fresh air system, ensuring that the air quality meets the stringent requirements of the international standard ISO16000. Furthermore, the on-site energy audit indicated that the building facilities at the Pinghu Logistics Center were in good working condition, with no breakage, leakage, or malfunction, thereby reducing the risk of energy waste.
As a result of the aforementioned designs and initiatives, the DB SCHENKER Pinghu Logistics Center project has been awarded Gold certification by the LEED rating agency. Additionally, DB SCHENKER promotes sustainable working and living practices among its employees. For instance, to minimize carbon emissions associated with private car travel, most employees at the Pinghu Logistics Center utilize the abundant public transportation resources in the vicinity and actively opt for bicycles and electric vehicles for low-carbon commuting.
Cindy Cao, Head of Area East and Senior Vice President at DB SCHENKER Greater China, stated, "It is a great honor to see that DB SCHENKER Pinghu Logistics Center has been awarded LEED Gold certification, which reflects DB SCHENKER's proactive efforts to integrate sustainability into its business development. Not only are we actively investing in the construction of green logistics facilities, but we are also expanding our new energy fleet to provide our customers with greener logistics and transportation services across the entire value chain."
Wayne Xie, Head of Contract Logistics and Vice President at DB SCHENKER Greater China, commented, "As a company with a history of over 150 years, sustainability has always been a fundamental aspect of our corporate strategy. The LEED Gold certification is a recognition of our continuous efforts, which we view as the guiding direction for our future endeavors. Looking ahead, DB SCHENKER will persist in advancing the development of a green logistics system in Greater China through various initiatives, contributing to China's 'dual carbon' strategy and sustainable development."
