Deutsche Bahn joins the Science Based Targets initiative

Deutsche Bahn has joined in March 2017 the Science Based Targets initiative (SBT) of CDP, the UN Global Compact, the World Resources Institute and WWF.

The initiative aims to lift companies' climate protection goals and ambitions around the world and make them easier to evaluate by applying the logic of science-based climate targets. Participating companies pledge to align their climate objectives with a level of decarbonization required to keep the global temperature increase below 2° Celsius compared to the pre-industrial temperature. SBT experts review and corroborate the targets. Deutsche Bahn is one of the first companies in Germany to align its climate targets with the Paris Agreement on Climate Change. The Science Based Targets initiative was launched in mid-2015. Some 215 companies from 33 countries, including ten German companies, have joined the initiative so far.
