What fascinates you most about your work in IT&D in logistics?
That I get to work with really smart people and learn from my colleagues every day.

What is your professional background and your career journey been like?
I started working in infrastructure at a pharmaceutical company while still in college. I joined DB Schenker in 2006 as the supervisor for the Service Desk. Since then, I have moved into different service management roles.

What was your biggest professional challenge and how did you overcome it?
My biggest challenge was taking on the IT service manager role for Contract Logistics in the USA. It’s a very fast-moving space, going from tender to implementation. Before you know it, you have a warehouse that needs IT infrastructure not to mention network, systems, and devices. Building relationships across teams, listening to their needs, and finding ways to alleviate pain points was critical.

What aspect of your current job has surprised you the most or been the most unexpected?
I’ve found that my work/life balance has improved thanks to our Follow the Sun support model. At the end of our shift, we can hand over to the next region and trust that those issues will be handled. Of course, in the event of a critical outage it might be all hands-on deck. Our service is stable enough though, that those are few and far between.

Why would you encourage women to take on a career in IT&D in logistics?
Because this field is ever changing and you will always find something new and exciting to do. Apply for that role you think is a stretch, trust in your capacity to learn, and then go build great things.

Thank you, Elisha for being such an inspiration to all of us. It was a pleasure meeting you.
