Schenker Indonesia receives Halal Certification for its warehousing operations
DB Schenker announces that following an audit of its transportation and warehouse management systems, its 2,250 SQM warehousing facility in Sentul, Indonesia, is now halal certified.
(Jakarta, 15 January 2019) DB Schenker announces that following an audit of its transportation and warehouse management systems, its 2,250 SQM warehousing facility in Sentul, Indonesia, is now halal certified. The Halal Assurance System (HAS 23000) certification is issued by the MUI (Indonesian Ulema Council) for service providers and covers both storage and transportation.
DB Schenker sees a sharp increase in demand for Halal logistics from FMCG and healthcare customers throughout Indonesia and the Asian region. It therefore reiterates its commitment to continue to expand its Halal logistics offering, with the main hub located in Malaysia.
Mr. Victor Lim, Country CEO, DB Schenker Indonesia, commented: “It’s important that we can guarantee and simplify the entire Halal value chain for our halal certified customers. With Halal supply chain management being an emerging requirement for FMCG brands, similar to existing food and product safety standards, we see a sharp growth in demand for this type of service.”
Mrs. Dian Mariani Pangestu, Head of Logistics at consumer product company, Nu Skin Indonesia, said she is “proud to work together with Schenker and hopes to be able to expand the business in the future. Obtaining the halal certification shows Schenker’s strong commitment to continuously improve its services and respond to market needs”.
Halal contract logistics solutions provide better protection for halal cargo and corporate brands along the supply chain. Under the halal logistics system, customers can be assured that halal cargo is segregated from non-halal cargo in transport and storage. Furthermore, high hygiene standards apply to both transport and warehousing, and a solid halal assurance system needs to be in place to continuously control the halal business processes.
DB Schenker in Indonesia is in the process of obtaining the HAS 23000 certification for its other warehousing facilities in 2019.
