Purpose:


Lead and drive all commercial activities globally for a GCM Account, including budgets and forecasts, which deliver the agreed strategic objectives of value and profit generation.  Develop and execute account specific strategies to increase current sales, improve market share and achieve profit objectives. Multi-cultural skills. Meet and build relationships with the customer and close internal collaboration with Senior Management such as Site Management, Sales, Sponsors etc.


Main Tasks:


  • You continuously seek opportunities and creative ways to improve revenue and customer performance in the sites and across the globe.
  • You do so by connecting experts (central and local), resources and insights, identifying and addressing key commercial trends.
  • You support the development and delivery of proactive customer outcomes. This includes supporting the Schenker values/collaboration agenda for which you take an active role globally in regional and local project team discussions and execution to help drive initiatives forwards.
  • You develop a deep understanding of the market, including but not limited to demand, supply, macro environment, market trends, customers, existing and new competition and their strengths and weaknesses
  • You know / understand the operations for that specific customer, and you will be involved in continuous improvement projects  
  • You are a member of the cross functional bid teams; we form whenever we (re)negotiate (Keep, Growth and New Business) our largest customer contracts. 
  • You ensure the bid team follows required processes (full compliance to all SOP´s especially CLDM) and continues to leverage best practice and across- deal insights. You ensure appropriate market, competition and historical performance insights are driving the approach and, you (help) prepare and present proposals that optimize value and commercial position, and actively participate in formulating the deal tactics.
  • You regularly travel to sites across the globe to support the teams in understanding the market and customers. Travel as required to meet customers and stakeholders 
  • You are responsible for driving the global sales pipeline performance forward.
  • Deliver a > xx% hit rate and a > xx% YoY growths 
  • You contribute to the global Way of Working agenda and stimulate the usage of Way of Working tools and processes across the globe.
  • You will actively contribute to the various global and regional commercial improvement and transformation initiatives as they come up.

Required main experience and skills: 


  • Solid and proven commercial experience in CL: 10+ years
  • Documented successful leadership experience is a plus 
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, engineering, logistics and supply chain, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certification such as MBA, PMP, Six Sigma, or Lean Certification is preferred.
  • Excellent Project Management and Business Process modelling skills
  • Ability to build and drive high performance teams through empowerment and accountability supported by clear communication & visibility 
  • Translating objectives into clear plans for execution with commitment and governance
  • Negotiations skills 
  • Englisch
