Meet Shilpi Garg

For Shilpi “If you have an interest in technology, keep learning and increasing your knowledge base and skillset. If you put your mind to it, nothing can stop you from succeeding”. Read her inspiring interview as she shares what it is like to be a woman working in the IT industry.

Can you tell us a little bit about your career path?

I am a BTech in Computer Science and started my career in IT in the year 2014. Initially, I was into WebLogic and related technology. Thereafter I developed an inclination toward DevOps technology. With my interest and self-learning in the field, I have developed myself and have been progressing every day in the related tech.

Great! what made you join Technology Solution Center (TSC), India?

The role that I got here is of my interest, of course in DevOps. DB SCHENKER is also a known organization with the best people practices. Apart from this, the constant HR connect, and Disciplinary Manager’s pre-joining communication had given me a lot of confidence to opt for this opportunity. 

On this note, share with us a bit about your role here 

So, I am basically with the Application Management Team. We do various deployments in several environments. Our efforts are to bring the manual part of the tech into fully automated mode.

You have joined the company during peak Covid times, work from home mode, how did you settle in your role?

I received a lot of support from colleagues in TSC India and Nanjing. The handover was seamless + the partners are very supportive. This altogether ensured a smooth landing into my job role.  

How do you find the culture here at TSC India?

The best thing about being here is the culture of rewards and recognition. Your managers appreciate your efforts and bring them in full visibility, which is very motivating. Also, there is work-life balance and no micromanagement

And how are you growing yourself here, especially on the upskilling knowledge part?

There are many learning opportunities here. I have attended various training, recently on the sequel on DB servers, how queries work and such … this is helpful and it’s like on-the-job learning.  Shilpi, what do you like to do in your leisure time?

I find it great to do yoga and walk. I am a wanderlust, recently have been to Jim Corbett National Park...an enchanting experience indeed!

One piece of advice you would like to share with the young girls aspiring for a career in IT?

Keep learning and lean into a tech industry that is constantly and rapidly evolving. This will help your confidence in speaking about various topics in conversation. Be passionate about what you are doing and do not be afraid to take more risks and responsibility for your success and do not hold yourself back.
