DB Schenker expands healthcare and pharma services from Schiphol Airport

The expansion of the Schenker facility at the Prologis Fokker Logistics Park was officially opened and taken into use on Thursday 9 March.

“With this expansion, the focus is on the long term and the further development of our services,” says Paul Schreiber, Vice President Air Freight at DB Schenker in the Benelux. “Throughout the entire supply chain, we can guarantee that sensitive goods are transported and handled correctly. Our dedicated teams in Air Freight, Ocean Freight and Contract Logistics are specially trained on this. The temperature- controlled DB Schenker warehouse at Schiphol Airport is a value-adding extension to our global network of GDP facilities. The processes within the business units are set up in such a way that the safety of the end consumer is always safeguarded.”

Fenna Beekhuizen, Air Freight Healthcare Product Manager Benelux: “Our new warehouse is equipped for temperature-controlled cross-docking between 15-25°C. In a large cold cell, we load and unload goods between 2-8°C. Here, we can pack the shipments in active or passive packaging material, so that the temperature of the product is maintained throughout the supply chain.”

In the Benelux, the logistics provider continuously invests in the growth and development of sustainable products and in upgrading and renovating sites at strategic locations. DB Schenker Schiphol meets the BREEAM Very Good guideline. The new building has full electrical connection, heating and cooling via heat pumps and will be equipped with solar panels.
