Legislation covering the operation of Schenker in the field of international transport is as follows:
Providing services in the field of international transport Schenker acts on the basis of the Convention on the Contract for the International Carriage of Goods by Road (CMR) conditions, the Latvian National Association of Freight Forwarders "LAFF" General Regulations, of the Road Transport Law and other laws according to the legislation of Latvian Republic.
Liability for loss of and damage to the goods and for delay in delivery is governed:
a) during national transportation or in connection with the performance of warehousing and logistic services by (quote here your national Standard Terms and Conditions, for instance: the General Conditions of the Nordic Association of freight Forwarders – NSAB 2000 – or Schenker Inc. Terms and Conditions of Service), most recent edition;
b) during international air carriage by the Convention for the Unification of Certain Rules Relating to the International Carriage by Air (“Warsaw Convention” including – where applicable - the Vienna and Montreal Protocols), or the Montreal Convention, as applicable;
c) during international road transport by the International Convention on the Contract for the International Carriage of Goods by Road of Geneva (“CMR”);
d) during international sea transport by the provisions of the relevant bill of lading.
