DB SCHENKER is now a member of IRU

Global multimodal logistics operator, DB SCHENKER, has joined the IRU, the International Road Transport Union, as its newest corporate member.

With this, DB SCHENKER aims to collaborate closely with the broader road transport sector on a range of issues and opportunities, including decarbonization, digitalization, and the industry’s image and ability to attract and retain workers.

Jochen Thewes, CEO at DB SCHENKER: “Joining the IRU is important for us to engage better within the road transport sector and beyond. Working with the IRU and its members will notably help us continue decarbonizing our operations, with our sub-contractors and partners, sharing knowledge and experiences with the wider industry.”

Umberto de Pretto, IRU Secretary General: “We are very excited to welcome DB SCHENKER into the IRU family. I look forward to collaborating with them in many areas, in particular on rolling out our Green Compact plan on carbon neutrality for global commercial road transport.”

IRU is the world road transport organisation, helping connect societies with safe, efficient and green mobility and logistics. As the voice of more than 3.5 million companies operating road and multimodal transport services in all global regions, IRU helps to keep the world in motion.
