We are convinced that social responsibility is a key factor for the long-term success of our company. We therefore invest in our employees and provide them with opportunities to grow, learn and make a positive social impact through corporate volunteering.
At DB Schenker, corporate volunteering is our choice to contribute to the social issues that matter to us as a company. Striving to make a difference to the local communities where we operate, we focus our efforts on four main categories:
Project Work in Management development program
In our knowledge-based society, education is the most precious commodity. Therefore we promote reading and media competence and vocational preparation. We want to give people of all parts of the society access to education. We contribute with information on health promotion as well as prevention of accidents and violence.
Living in an increasingly divided society, DB Schenker stands for strengthening togetherness, regardless of age, culture, social origins and handicaps. We strive to create opportunities for inclusion and participation through activities such as sports, access to education and information. Our understanding of integration means that we support people from marginal groups aiming to bring them back closer to the center of society.
DB Schenker is committed to protecting the climate and nature – the essential basis for a life worth living. The long-term development of sustainability practices is key to protecting the environment that we live in. We promote sustainability by supporting climate protection projects and by creating opportunities for people to encounter nature first-hand – increasing their awareness and inspiring their support.
Emergencies and natural disasters such as floods, earthquakes, typhoons and forest fires can strike at any time, causing widespread devastation. Providing immediate aid and longer-term regeneration support gives communities the best chance of sustainable recovery. Using our logistics competence, we provide emergency relief supplies and we actively support emergency aid during the re-building of affected areas.
Each year, we select 15 executives with potential for senior management positions at DB Schenker to participate in a management development program. One of their project tasks during this program is to conduct a corporate volunteering activity with their teams. Leading teams in an unfamiliar environment with an unfamiliar purpose brings unfamiliar challenges, maximizing the opportunity for learning and growth while addressing a social issue.By conducting a corporate volunteering project with their teams, the executives…
- …can give back to the society
- …are becoming ambassadors of the idea of Corporate Volunteering
- …work on their social skill set
- …develop leader-team relationships
- …use their project management skills
