DB Schenker Sponsors Facebook Live Conference with The Port of Los Angeles

Conference attendees and streaming viewers received update on why the port continues to be the number one container port in the U.S. and North America

April 11, 2019 – DB Schenker, a global transportation and logistics company and The Port of Los Angeles held a Facebook Live conference where the port reconfirmed to those attending in-person and viewing via live-stream, its plans for meeting anticipated growth into the region for North American and Asia Pacific trade.

In a Q&A format hosted by DB Schenker, Michael DiBernardo, Deputy Executive Director, Marketing and Customer Relations for The Port of Los Angeles, told the audience, “in 2018, the port handled 9.5 million TEU’s, the most ever for a port in the United States,” making The Port of Los Angeles the nation’s #1 container port and global model for sustainability, security and social responsibility.

DiBernardo also reviewed future investment plans for the port while expanding on the port’s recent focus relating to ‘big-ship’ readiness and capacity enhancements. He also introduced ‘Port Optimizer‘, a first-of-its-kind information portal designed to digitize maritime shipping data for cargo owners and supply chain stakeholders through secure, channeled access. DiBernardo also talked to changes being made in inland infrastructure to improve cargo movement; security as an integral part of transportation and logistics and closed with an update on the ever-changing rules and regulations from U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Those attending the conference were also given a private tour of one of the Port’s container terminals.
