FDA Delays Enforcement of New Cosmetics Requirements
Under the Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act of 2022 (MoCRA), most cosmetics manufacturing and processing companies will need to register their facilities and list their products with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), much like the existing requirements to register and list drugs and drug-related facilities.
The FDA announced this week that they will delay enforcement of these new cosmetics requirements. Originally, enforcement was set to start December 29, 2023; however, the FDA has pushed this start date out by six months to allow time for the industry to comply. The new enforcement deadline is July 1, 2024.
