Implementation of Mediterranean Sea Emission Control Area (ECA) May 2025 - reduction

Following the International Maritime Organization (IMO) extension of its Emission Control Area (ECA) to also include the Mediterranean Sea, stricter control to limit sulfur emissions from ships will be in place

From May 1, 2025 all ships from/to and between the Mediterranean ports will have to utilize more expensive low sulfur fuel oil (0.1%) while adopting other measures to meet the new environmental standards.

To comply with the new regulatory requirements and the cover the additional costs announced by the carriers, we will implement as well an ECA surcharge valid from next 5th of June 2025 until further notice.
