Tariff Rate Quota Extended on Steel and Aluminum from the EU
As a follow-up to our Dec. 15th announcement, the agreement for a tariff-rate quota (TRQ) on EU steel and aluminum has been extended while the U.S. and EU continue to negotiate the Global Arrangement on Sustainable Steel and Aluminum (GSA).
This extension adds another 15 months to the agreement, bringing the new expiration date to March 31, 2025.
Under this TRQ, products from the EU eligible under origin criteria and entered within the quota volume will not be subject to Section 232 duties. If the quota fills, the product can still be entered into the U.S., but with duty payable under the Section 232 duty rates.
