Tentative Agreement Reached: ILA and USMX Avert Potential Strike
We are pleased to inform you that the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) and the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX) have reached a tentative agreement on a new six-year Master Contract. This milestone agreement, announced on January 8, 2025, has averted the potential strike previously anticipated for January 15, 2025
Key Highlights of the Agreement:
- The tentative agreement safeguards existing ILA jobs while providing a framework for implementing advanced technologies that will create new opportunities and modernize East and Gulf Coast ports.
- Ports will become safer, more efficient, and better equipped to handle increasing demand, strengthening supply chains, and supporting the American economy.
- Both parties have committed to operating under the current contract until the ILA Wage Scale Committee and USMX members complete the ratification process.
This collaborative effort ensures the continued smooth operation of East and Gulf Coast ports, benefiting businesses and consumers alike.
What This Means for You:
- There will be no disruptions to port operations or your supply chain.
- No port disruption surcharges will apply.
- We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as needed.
