Canada’s Response to the 25% US Tariff on Most Canadian Goods to Begin Tuesday March 4, 2025
US President Trump has followed through with his promise to impose a 25% tariff on Canadian goods entering the US, including a 10% tariff on Canadian energy products. These tariffs have gone into effect on Tuesday March 4, 2025.
Prime Minister Trudeau has proceeded to apply the anticipated retaliatory tariffs on goods manufactured in the US, regardless of country of export.
- $30 billion worth of US goods imported into Canada will be affected as of Tuesday March 4, 2025.
- $125 billion worth of US goods imported into Canada will be affected in 21 days, to give Canadian businesses time to find alternative options.
