Electronic Data Interchange is direct and safe electronic communication between IT systems of a logistic operator, its clients and other supply chain participants.
This is how we:
Owing to the implementation of international data interchange standards, EDI operates independently of the type of software used within an enterprise. This means that the use of EDI is not limited by differences in software employed by business partners in their companies.
EDIFACT and ANSI X12 are the most popular EDI standards. However, communication with the use of XML (eXtensible Mark-up Language), which is a universal language that enables to save data together with its structure, is becoming more and more popular.
EDI messages can be sent by any protocols used by two parties to a transmission. At the present moment, the most popular ways of information interchange include: FTP, sFTP, AS2, HTTP.
The extent of data interchange can comprise a large number of message types, the use of which is related to individual requirements of an enterprise (e.g.: a transport order, shipment status, invoice list, etc.).

WebServices support the conclusion of the Internet-based business transactions between enterprises. Similarly to EDI, they are used in logistics as reliable and flexible technologies that support the operation of complex logistic chains.
Service components of Web Services can be implemented with the use of various programming languages as well as hardware and operational platforms. To facilitate implementation, the Web Services service components are described in the WSDL language, which enables application programmers to use automatic communication code generators.
