The Role
We have a new opportunity for an experienced Distribution Centre Manager to join our team in [LOCATION].
This position is responsible for the effective operational function and performance of the logistics site facility incorporating specific major client and multi-client warehouse as well as the domestic transportation management. This includes leading, managing and developing teams, enabling the effective provision of logistics services to customers and ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures and client agreements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure effective structure is in place in order to meet logistics and transport customer SLA’s and day to day running of operations in the facility.
- Assign specific tasks to Managers, Supervisors or Team Leaders and ensure full accountability
- Implement, monitor and publish KPI’s for the facility
- Review and manage road transport contractor agreement and performance
- Continuous identification of process and productivity improvements
- Review and maintain security of site ensuring adequate coverage of facility through CCTV cameras and inventory counts
- Responsible for inventory management on site, specifically monitoring cycle counts and stock audits
- Ensure DIFOT on all deliveries under the control of the facility
- Ensure customer orders are processed within SLA’s in place with between the Customer and Schenker
- Ensure warehouse and surroundings are in a clean and tidy state and professionally presented at all times
- Promote a safe working environment through the Company’s WH&S Policies and Procedures. Ensure within reasonable practicability, that all employees under your supervision are safe from injury and risks to health whilst at work
- Ensure any VAS is reviewed and billed out on a monthly basis in line with scheduled monthly billing.
- Proactively reduce any operational errors through staff development and learning
- Preparing budgets and forecasts
- Monitoring Profit & Loss for site and customers
- Analysing performance against budget, monitoring variance to budget
Competencies and Skills required:
- Excellent Customer Service skills
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Well developed conflict resolution, negotiation and problem solving skills
- Well developed commercial acumen, with demonstrable ability to apply business theories to operation and practical situations
- Ability to monitor the progress of direct reports and to delegate effectively
- Ability to develop team members and to impart knowledge and develop shared solutions
- Strong understanding of complex warehouse systems including SAP, Exceed is vital
- Be required to work very flexible hours in order to meet the customer’s fluctuating work requirements.
- Innovative and “can do” attitude
- Strong analytical ability to identify root cause analysis
- Previous experience in 3PL, distribution and road transport as well as customer relationship building.
- Degree or equivalent, or 4-10 years relevant experience in a similar environment
- Staff and contractor management experience
- Microsoft Office Applications- Intermediate to advanced
- Outlook- intermediate
- WMS Inventory Systems – Exceed - Advanced
- TMS Intermediate
