Due to the risk for people and the environment, dangerous cargo cannot be treated like general cargo. It requires special handling and the workforce involved needs additional qualifications. Whichever of the land transport product portfolio (cross-border) you choose, you may always ask for special agreements from the respective branch office.
With DB SCHENKER part load and DB SCHENKER full load there are no general restrictions in place. In any case, customers may always ask their responsible branch office for special agreements.
Ancillary Fees

Due to rising traffic volumes, timely delivery and pick up is becoming increasingly difficult in metropolitan areas. This leads to unavoidable cost increases. The situation is particular critical in the metropolitan areas of some major European cities (e.g. Paris, London, Rome). City administrations have increasingly regulated access to urban areas. In addition, vehicle bans frequently lead to further major restrictions. For some time now, these measures have led to increased expenditure and unavoidable cost increases for the delivery and collection of your consignments in the major cities affected.
We are therefore obligated to charge a special surcharge for deliveries and pick-ups to affected major European cities.

Since the Swiss National Bank SNB abolished the minimum exchange rate of CHF 1.20 per euro in January 2015, the euro (EUR) to Swiss franc (CHF) exchange rate has been subject to considerable fluctuations. This represents an increasingly incalculable cost factor with regard to the services provided by DB Schenker in Switzerland. These currency costs, over which we have no control, must be compensated for by means of a variable currency surcharge.
-
Costs for petrol and diesel are becoming more and more subject to immense variabilities and thus they constitute an incalculable cost factor. At Schenker Deutschland AG fuel costs continue to constitute about 12 percent of the total haulage costs for general cargo/network transports. The percentage for part and complete loads is significantly higher.

The toll is an obligatory charge for the use of certain traffic structures such as freeways, federal highways, bridges and tunnels, which is applied in many countries. In some European city centers, a city toll is charged upon entry or access to environmental zones is subject to a fee.

By deploying additional manpower and vehicles, DB Schenker maintains the necessary capacity to respond flexibly to fluctuating shipment volumes. The primary objective is to ensure consistently high delivery quality, even during peak periods such as spring or fall. Partially some of the additional expense incurred during peak periods are charged in form of a seasonal surcharge. The current periods for applying the season surcharge can be found in the attached calendar.
